Liposuction

ABOUT THE PROCEDURE

Liposuction removes localised fat deposits that persist despite diet and exercise, improving body proportion and contour in a way that lifestyle changes alone cannot achieve. It is not a weight loss procedure, but for patients at or near their ideal weight with stubborn, localised fat, it can produce a meaningful and lasting change in silhouette. Mr Ibrahim uses liposuction as a precise body contouring tool, often in combination with other procedures, and always with careful attention to achieving smooth, natural results.

What the Procedure Involves

Mr Ibrahim will assess the areas of concern, skin quality and elasticity, and fat distribution before discussing realistic outcomes. Treatable areas include the abdomen and waist, flanks, thighs, upper arms, knees, back, neck, and chin. Small incisions (three to five millimetres) are placed in discreet locations. Tumescent fluid is infiltrated to minimise bleeding, and a cannula is used to break up and remove fat. The technique selected — traditional suction-assisted (SAL), power-assisted (PAL), or ultrasound-assisted (VASER) — is based on the area being treated and the tissue characteristics. Surgery takes one to four hours depending on the extent of treatment, under general or local anaesthetic with sedation. A compression garment is applied.

Your Recovery

Swelling, bruising, and tenderness are expected for one to three weeks. Compression garments are worn for four to six weeks. Most patients return to desk work within three to seven days and resume exercise after three to four weeks. Final contour is visible at six to twelve months as swelling fully resolves.

Risks & Complications

  • Infection, bleeding, or haematoma

  • Seroma

  • Contour irregularities, dimpling, or asymmetry

  • Under- or over-correction

  • Changes in skin sensation

  • Skin laxity if elasticity is poor

  • Deep vein thrombosis

  • Need for revision surgery

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the fat come back? The fat cells removed are permanently gone. However, remaining cells can enlarge with weight gain. Maintaining a stable weight is important for lasting results.

What if I have loose skin? Liposuction works best when skin elasticity is sufficient to retract after fat removal. If skin laxity is significant, a procedure that also removes excess skin may be more appropriate. Mr Ibrahim will advise honestly.

How many areas can be treated at once? Multiple areas can be addressed in one session, though there are safety limits on the total volume of fat that can be removed. Mr Ibrahim will help you prioritise areas for the safest and most effective plan.
